- I have a 2.2 Meg file that when compressed (ncompress version 4.2.4,
- newest) is 777k, but when zipped (zip 1.9, newest) is only 340k. The
- file is an ISAM key file.
-
- I am surprised that the zip is half the size of the compress file. The
- file has alot of nulls in it, if that is important. I know that someone
- posted that pre 4.2 version compress'es did bad compression with alot of
- nulls, but he said the new version, ncompress, had fixed that.
-
- Any ideas why or when this happens? Are there ftp-able documents
- outlining this?
-
- I know there is a better group for this question but I don't get that
- group here.
