- I know of the absolute best Unix textbook for students but
- I am a bit biased because I wrote it :-)
-
- So, to be fair, I will only say that it is called
- "A Student's Guide to Unix" and it is oriented towards
- the student/research/university/college/Internet environment.
- With respect to course contents, for a beginning course
- you could probably just follow the outline of the
- book and do just fine.
-
- The book will be available in February from the McGraw-Hill College
- Division. If you would like an evaluation copy or some information,
- call your local McGraw-Hill sales rep. If you would rather,
- send email to the editor at McGraw-Hill (Eric Munson):
-
- emunson@mgh.com
-
- Tell him your school, what course you teach, your phone
- and address, and all the standard information.
-
- Since this is a newsgroup I don't want to get commercial,
- especially about a book that I wrote myself, so I will
- confine myself to including an abbreviated Table of Contents
- and invite anyone who wants to email me for more details
- (or find me at Usenix to talk about it, where we
- will be having a Meet the Author type thing and there
- will be advance copies to look at.)
-
- However, if any of the manusacript reviewers who read this newsgroup
- want to jump in with a few comments, please feel free.
