- I'm looking for suggestions for a good system monitoring program
- with the following characteristics:
-
- 1) It runs every so often on every machine every so often
- 2) It sends mail or posts news when there is a problem
- 3) It checks for runaway processes and consistantly high loads
- 4) It checks for close-to-full file systems and stale NFS handles
- 5) It's smart enough to know when the machine has been rebooted recently
- and sends mail out
-
- Desired:
- 1) It takes up little disk space
- 2) Runs reasonably efficiently (i.e. instead of running "ps" it opens the memory itself
- and looks around).
-
- Thanks,
- Rich
