- I've installed FAS2.10 on my Interactive 3.0 machine,
- and have just run into a pretty nifty problem in regards
- to using pcomm (a ProComm look-alike).
-
- I only have 2 serial ports on the machine, one of which
- is dedicated to my mouse so I can run Xwindows. (Xfree86)
-
- So the remaining serial port does double duty as both dial in
- and dial out.
-
- At first it looked like I might have a problem with people
- trying to dial in, but it turns out that I needed to create
- a unique gettydefs entry so the port wouldn't go from one
- entry to the next, but rather keep the port open at a constant
- speed and let the modem take care of the rest.
-
- So I fire up pcomm and am happily logged into another
- machine when everything goes nutso on the screen. I look
- over and my modem is doing a rumba. So I fire up a
- virtual terminal window and notice that the system is
- trying to use the port for a UUCP transaction even though
- I'm using it. (Basically going through the motions of trying
- to wake up the modem, and then dialing the number of the remote
- site it was trying to reach)
-
- Now this never happened before I started using FAS, so I'm
- wondering if I might have something misconfigured within
- the fas drivers themselves, or ?? Any fas veterans have any
- suggestions as to where I might begin my search?
