- The device independent nature of UNIX I/O has always looked to me to possibly
- be a limitation when doing real-time. I am under the understanding that the
- VMS subdirectory higherarchy was inspired by the UNIX hierarchy. I am not sure
- whether I really find a preference for UNIX's single system-wide hierarchy, or
- VMS's per disk hierarchy, but they both beat the heck out of RSX's single
- level UFD, or our old IBM mainframe's catalog.

- Its's really nice to site on a VMS machine and
- edit node::file
- where "node" doesn't have an editor you like.
- I've done this to TOPS-20, RSX, ULTRIX, and AIX (kinet's implementation of
- DECnet).
