- I am in the process of putting together a 386 system to run 386BSD on.
- (by 386BSD I mean the Jolitz port, not BSDi)
- I have some basic questions about what kind of things are supported,
- if you people on the net could help me out I would be very gratefull!
- (I read Eric's guide, and didn't find [all] the answers - if there something
- that does have these answers, please direct me to it)
-
- What kind of video card should I get, and what kind of chipset is the best
- to get for 386BSD? I know that I want SVGA, since I want to run X.
-
- What kind of monitor should I get. I want a 14" NI .28 pitch...what
- manufacturers are good?
-
- What is the best kind of mouse to get?
-
- What kind of chipset is the best to get on the motherboard, and what kind of
- BIOS should I look for? Which chipsets are supported?
-
- Where can I find an I/O board with smart UARTs?
-
- I don't have enough money to get SCSI, so I'm going to have to use IDE. Is
- there a better conroller to get than the standard ones that come included
- with the systems?
-
- Can I run X comfortably with 8MB of RAM (one or two xterms - no heavy compiling)?
-
- Thanks for any help you can give, I'd also be interested in hearing any personal
- experience you have had with any of the products...
