  14. I've installed Joergs' Shared lib for /bin /sbin /usr/bin /usr/sbin for 
  15. those small programs that benefit the most. The bigger programs do not 
  16. benefit much.

  18. I tried to compile X utilities especially xterm but I cannot even find the
  19. sources despite having the X11r5 distribution. Which directory does 
  20. xterm belong to?

  22. I'm cross-posting to comp.os.linux because there are a lot of misunderstanding
  23. about 386bsd there.

  25. I'm not against linux because it serves a niche market or use. Also as
  26. back up. 386bsd is much bigger and moves in different directions but it
  27. does not prevent people from porting lessons learned in linux to 386bsd.
  28. Joerg's shared lib is one of them.
  29.     shared lib is not for everyone. It creates a lot of problems. I need
  30. it for a small system but I have lot of problems installing it but it may be
  31. worth installing the x utilities.
  32.     From my benchmark the shared lib versions are slower than the 
  33. unshared ones. Maybe it has to jump further?

  36. the X server does not need 3 megabytes.
