  12. Just a quickie,

  14.   I get bind() errors on about any  software (syslogd, startx/xinit, 
  15. etc ...) that cause these programs to just exit.  I don't have an
  16. ethernet card so the kernel doesn't configure anything at bootup time,
  17. is this my problem?  I remember reading in the BUGLIST that to fix
  18. this problem with talkd, one just has to make sure their /etc/host
  19. contains an entry like '127.1  myhostname'.  This didn't appear to
  20. fix the problem, any other ideas?
