- I have problems with the commands ping, ftp and telnet under AUX 3.0.
- When I invoke one of these commands, it takes several minutes before
- the machine really does connect to another machine, This is so regardless
- of whether I use a symbolic name or a numeric ip address. With the help
- of a sniffer I could see that name server access is as fast as one could
- expect. The time is spent after the command knows the numeric ip address.
- This is my first contact to AUX, but on other UNIX machines all commands
- react spontaneously when you use a numeric ip address.
