- Sure have! I had the same problems on a Mac IIci and a Quadra 700. I've
- reported the problem to Apple (twice). It actually seemed for a while on
- the IIci that the disks were to blame, since I got about a half-dozen bad
- ones at once. Dust also played a part on the IIci, but after cleaning out
- the machine and the drive, I've been able to verify that neither the IIci
- nor the Quadra can format high density diskettes in any environment under
- A/UX 3.0. I've tried formatting under the finder, using diskformat under
- commandshell, and using diskformat under the console emulator and X11R4.
- 800k diskettes format fine. High density diskettes format fine under MacOS
- if I stop A/UX from booting, but I don't like having to shut down A/UX just
- to format a floppy.
-
- Also, I find that Apple File Exchange cannot format MS-DOS diskettes, and
- neither can mtools.
