- Well, I only have the A3070, but the Viper seems to be an excellent and
- very fast drive. The A3070 is competent and quick (~6MB/min according
- to my estimates) but lacks QIC-24 compatibility that the other drives
- may have.

-
- Yes, Amiga UNIX 2.1 comes with the necessary patches and kludges to
- allow the Viper to work. It looks pretty simple to use--break out the
- install program, run viper_kludge, run the install program again. The
- A3070 is a repackaged Calipher CP150-AEH.

- For a while, 3M put warning slips in their 6250 cartridges that using
- the 250MB cartridge in a 150MB drive might cause excessive head wear.
- Concerned customers called 3M, who explained that due to the different
- oxide and tape characteristics, frequent switching between the 6250 and
- 6150 (150MB) cartridges might accelerate head wear. However, sticking
- to one size, either 6250 or 6150, should cause no problems. Occasional
- use of a different size tape is also not a problem. A fairly recent
- post reported that 3M no longer seems to be concerned about it.
