- Greetings.
-
- I am currently retained by a company that is having problems
- with an RS/6000 running AIX 3.1. The system was purchased from
- a VAR with the VAR's vertical application preinstalled. The VAR
- is providing something less than stellar support.
-
- The system has a subset of what I'm used to seeing on a Unix system.
- There are no compilers, linkers, man pages, printed manuals, etc.,
- just lots of empty directories. The system contains just enough of
- AIX to run the vertical application that the VAR is selling, along
- with the usual administrative tasks like backup and user management.
-
- According to the purchase order, the client purchased the following
- AIX-related software when they bought the box from the VAR:
-
- - IBM Program No. 5756-030/0206/0208 AIX Version 3 for IBM RISC
- System 6000 Processor Group F5 (includes models 520 and 530) -
- 32 user License.
-
- - IBM Model 5756 Feature 4961 Operating System Backup Copy Option
-
- Can anyone tell me what you get when you order the above? Should there
- be man pages? C compiler? Manuals? Anything? <g>
-
- Thanks in advance for your help.
-
- Regards,
-
