- I am having problems using the pipe ("|") character on an RS/6000
- 560 running AIX 3.2.3. I am running under the C-shell.
-
- When I type something like "ls -l | more", I get a message that says
- "background write", and I get a command prompt back. The job never
- seems to run (I never do get my directory listing). When I go to log
- out, the system tells me that I have stopped jobs. If I do a "ps", my
- "ls -l | more" is still running.
-
- This happens about 75% of the time when I use the pipe symbol. Does
- anyone know what is causing this and how it can be fixed? Without
- being able to use pipes, the RS/6000 is nearly worthless to me as a
- developement platform.
