  11. I am having problems using the pipe ("|") character on an RS/6000
  12. 560 running AIX 3.2.3.  I am running under the C-shell.

  14. When I type something like "ls -l | more", I get a message that says
  15. "background write", and I get a command prompt back.  The job never
  16. seems to run (I never do get my directory listing).  When I go to log
  17. out, the system tells me that I have stopped jobs.  If I do a "ps", my
  18. "ls -l | more" is still running.

  20. This happens about 75% of the time when I use the pipe symbol.  Does
  21. anyone know what is causing this and how it can be fixed?  Without
  22. being able to use pipes, the RS/6000 is nearly worthless to me as a
  23. developement platform.
