- Your best bet would be to read the SCO manuals and learn as much as you
- can by getting hands on experience. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT GO LOOKING
- for a Unix vendor. It has been mu multiple experience, that many
- companies out there will rip you off. What I mean is that, although
- there is alot of UNIX talent out there, sadly not too many work for UNIX
- service companies. And if they do the company has them hidden away, so
- the general customer does not get him/her. If you go soliciting for Unix
- help from companies, they will almost always tell you that they have a
- Unix expert around, and send you a guy named Corky who doesn't know the
- difference between rm -f /tmp* and rm -f * /tmp (which can be dangerous)
- I speak from experience (especially the rm -f stuff). I won't tell you
- who the worst culprits, I have found are...
-
- Anyway. The best resource for a person like yourself is the net. (you
- have that advantage) There are alot of quality people on the net willing
- to give you as much help as they can for free. (and I would trust it
- far more than I can trust some company salesperson) If you need help,
- mail me. I have had 2+ years admining SCO boxes, and have set up digi
- boards personally.
-
- I hope this has steered you in the correct direction.
