  13. I have been using LaTeX for several years now, I am now using it to write
  14. a book,  I would like to build an index.

  16. The index documentation is rather sketchy, apparently I need a program called 
  17. idx.pl to compile the index file generated by LaTeX.  
  18.  
  19. Is this a TeX macro, or an executable.
  20.  
  21. In either case, where can I find it (MS-DOS and/or Amiga version).
  22.  
  23. Also what is the syntax for the \index command, especially for subitems?
