- A repeat of a previous post I made a while back (in essence): MicroSpell is
- THE spellchecker for TeX (I cringe when I have to use ispell on UNIX -
- spellchecking is the one thing that is really better on my slow (386SX) DOS
- machine at home). It is faster on a slow DOS machine than ispell is on a
- fast UNIX machine. And running ispell or its look-a-likes (I include
- amSpell here, being a bit loose in usage) on a slow DOS machine is even
- worse. Yes - you will have to pay for MicroSpell, but you are supporting an
- individual who (I imagine - I have never met the author, only spoken on the
- phone when ordering) is deserving of your support. Spend a few $$ on a good
- speller, and steal somebody else's program - preferably MicroSoft or Lotus
- ;-} (I deny ever typing that...)
-
- Seriously, MicroSpell has lots of advantages - it is easily configurable,
- you can add to the supplemental dictionary either by hand or on the fly (as
- you check your documents) - again easily, you can look up words with
- wildcards, and of course, it understands TeX - eg it even understands that \'e
- represents the ASCII 130 character, and so on. Now if only there was a UNIX
- version...
