- My friend Bob's printer broke down and he had to buy a new one. I was
- allegedly helping him select one, when he popped this rather weird
- question: Why do they have 9-pin and 24-pin printers, but not 18 or
- 20-pin printers?

- I'm at a loss here. I think the 9 pins were probably the minimum
- needed to produce decent quality text. But why 24 rather than 18 or 20
- or even 22?
