  31. Cheap is a relative term.  It is about 1/3 of the cost of the paper edition.

  33. The first edition OED on CD, even with its clunky retrieval software,
  34. was an incredibly useful item for a writer friend of mine, and he
  35. considered it money well spent.

  37. Incidentally, setting that one up was fun.  He had one of the first
  38. dozen of the first Phillips CD-ROM drives imported into the states.
  39. You know you're going to be having fun when you see serial numbers
  40. that low...
