  30. SYMPOSIUM:  IPPS '93 will be held April 13-16, 1993 at the
  31. Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Tennis Club, Newport
  32. Beach, California.  The symposium is sponsored by IEEE
  33. Computer Society and is held in cooperation with ACM
  34. SIGARCH.  IPPS '93 is a forum for engineers and scientists
  35. from around the world to present the latest research
  36. findings in all aspects of parallel and distributed
  37. processing.

  39. WORKSHOP: The workshop will be held on the first day of the
  40. symposium (April 13, 1993).  The workshop will focus on the
  41. I/O bottleneck facing parallel computer systems for many
  42. important applications such as multimedia information
  43. systems and volume visualization.  Recognition of the
  44. importance of this problem has been growing steadily, and
  45. proposed solutions include approaches based upon new
  46. hardware, architecture, systems software and algorithms.
  47. The workshop will bring together researchers in order to
  48. foster further research on these approaches and their
  49. integration into comprehensive systems solutions.

  51. Papers are invited demonstrating original unpublished
  52. research.  Topics of interest include, but are not limited
  53. to:
  54.  
  55.     High-speed storage and channels            
  56.     I/O interconnection architectures
  57.     Concurrent file systems
  58.     Compiler support for parallel I/O            
  59.     Scheduling algorithms and heuristics
  60.     Data and resource allocation
  61.     Application profiling and benchmarking
  62.     Performance of I/O subsystems
  63.  
  64. SUBMITTING PAPERS: All papers will be reviewed.  The first
  65. page must include a 100-word abstract and the name,
  66. address, telephone number and electronic mail address of
  67. the author to whom correspondence is to be sent.  The
  68. manuscript should be at most 20 pages long (including
  69. figures and references).  Papers will be collected into a
  70. proceedings and distributed at the workshop.  Five copies
  71. of the paper should be sent to one of the two addresses
