- I was doing some testing and I needed
- to see the contents of a file on another
- host. I did a "rsh otherhost cat file"
- and got the message "Permission Denied".
- I then rlogined into the otherhost and then
- did a "cat file" and got the same "Permission
- Denied" message. Weird.
-
- This really had me stumped. I then tried to
- vi the file. This worked fine and showed me
- what my problem was. Can you guess?
-
- The permissions and exporting of the file was
- fine.

- THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE FILE CONTAINED THE TEXT;
-
- "Permission Denied"
-
- This should be a test question for new system
- administrators. It really had me going for a
- while.
