  13. thanks to all who answered my previous query about biff not working.
  14. unfortunately, all the things suggested do not make biff work. but i did
  15. learn that comsat is the biff server and that it is setup in the /etc/services
  16. file. one of the first lines of services is
  17.       "this file is never consulted when the NIS are running"
  18. and, yes, i am running NIS. is biff a lost cause when NIS are running?
  19. please clarify. thanks,
