- HI,
- I have an HP-DAT drive attached to a Sparc-2 running SUNOS 4.1.2. This
- drive has the compression feature. A switch has been added to the DAT to
- choose between the low density and high density. The following problems
- have arisen:
-
- 1. When trying to read a low density 4mm tape created on a WANG-2000 DAT -
- I get an I/O error. Are low density DAT's between different vendor
- compatitible? Is there anyway to read this tape on my HP drive?
-
- 2. After backing up files to the HP-dat using compression (high density),
- I can't rewrite on this tape using the normal density. The tape must be
- erased using "mt erase". This command for some reason hangs and the only
- way to use the drive is to reboot the machine. Has anyone encountered
- problems like this?
