- SS10 now come setup to install Solaris 2.1 when they are first
- turned on. They do NOT have 4.1.3 pre-installed anymore!
-
- I first heard about this while visiting Sun around Dec. 14th. I
- couldn't believe it at first and when I did, I started to scream!
- In order for Jumpstart to work, you need to have a Solaris 2.1 machine
- with the Solaris 2.1 CD on your local network configured to answer
- to the Jumpstart requests.
- I loudly explained to Sun that since I wasn't expecting my copy
- of Solaris 2.1 until sometime in February or March (normal delay for
- my maintenance contract out here) that it didn't make any sense at
- all to deliver machines which need that CD in order to work!
- (She understood and I believe the message got across and she was
- nice enough to provide me with her own copy of the CD! Thanks Minoo).
-
- In the meanwhile, you just need to install 4.1.3 in the old fashion
- way. However, since you did mention that you don't have 4.1.3 on any
- media whatsoever you are out of luck. You might ask Sun to loan you
- a copy of the media, they often do so for us.

-
- This has been true for quite a while. You just need to type
- boot disk or boot by itself will usually do it assuming you
- have an operating system on the disk of course.
