  20. 1. Let me play back what I understand you to be saying.

  22.     If you have intentionally modified a normal inst'ed file, a
  23.     file not known as a config file to inst, then you would like
  24.     to tell inst, to treat this file as if it were a config
  25.     file:

  27.     * naming upgrade versions with a .N suffix,

  29.     * listing that file in the output of "versions changed",
  30.  
  31.     * giving you a chance to merge in your localisms, and
  32.     
  33.     * letting you list all config files, for cloning systems.
