- Hi there. With all of the discussion concerning the problems that people
- are having with SGI product support, I thought that it would only be fair to
- report the wonderful support I have been getting. I managed to trash one of
- the SCSI drive, or the Ethernet hardware on our new R4000 system. Upon calling
- the 1-800 hotline listed on the service info card, I was dealt with cheerfully
- by an operator who told me that a technician would call. The technician,
- Randy, did call the same day, and was extremely good natured and helpful in
- the diagnosis of the problem. This was yesterday. Today, I have contacted
- him and, while the system is still broken, I am happy to say that SGI have
- shown exemplary responsiveness, and the parts will shortly arrive to let me
- fix the system with all due haste.

- I'm not saying that the problems people are having with SGI support are
- fictitious - just that I haven't experienced them myself.
