  12. I need to extract information, if possible, from a tape which tar reads as
  13. having a 'directory checksum error'.  Is there a way to trick tar into reading
  14. a tape screwed up in this particular way?

  16. What I also meant to add is that the archive is on 1/4" tape, the tape drive
  17. is a regulation SGI SCSI drive, and the computer in question is a personal
  18. IRIS running 4.0.5 (sort of--it was only running at the inst level when the
  19. archive was created).
