- I agree with Brent that these configurations are very do-able. I have a
- CalComp color electrostatic plotter cabled to my 4D/35's parallel port _and_
- serial port. The SUNs and SGIs on my LAN are quite capable of sending multi-
- megabyte encoded files to it purely via lpr().

- My customer has attempted the same kind of arrangement, though, and has
- experienced problems. If I understand correctly, SGI wants you to use lpr()
- and lp() jointly - there has been a thread on this in the past. Perhaps
- this is what is officially *supported* by SGI, and if you're lucky enough to
- get the purely lpr() approach to work, more power to you.
