- Well, I've called SGI Support, but after missing the call-back I
- haven't heard a word from them so I'll ask here and maybe get a faster
- response.
-
- Background: I deleted the printer and added it again. (Had some problems
- with that, but managed to muddle around until I found the problem.) Once
- I got it added, it wouldn't print any jobs that were sent to it. The
- light would flash for a while, but nothing would come out. The support
- person, after several minutes of searching through the
- /usr/spool/lp/interface/ps file and nearly giving up finally decided to
- have me try putting 'echo "\004\c"' right after the 'cat "$file" 2>&1"
- line. This seemed to work fine.
-
- Current problem: Now, if we send more than one file that is relatively
- time consuming (like Postscript pictures) simultaneously, the first one
- gets through, but everything after that results in the flashing light
- with no printouts until everything has cleared the queue. We never had
- this problem before I had my mishap with deleting the printer.
-
- Any ideas about what in the world it's doing and how to make it stop?
-
- Oh, yeah, the printer is an Apple LaserWriter II.
