- | Greetings. I am new to configuring SG computers. I now have a 4D80GTX
- | with the Interphase ESDI controller, a (new) 330MB ESDI harddisk, and
- | a tpsc tape device. I don't have a maint. contract. I need to know:
- |
- | 1. Can I add a scsi hardisk to the system as is ? The documentation seems
- | to imply there is a scsi disk system (dpsc) and a scsi tape system (tpsc),
- | is that the case ? I connected a too-small scsi disk to the scsi connector
- | and the system appeared to recognize it, but is this a good way to run ?
-
- The dksc drivers are present, and the scsi interface is always
- there, so yes, you can add a scsi disk. I don't know what you
- mean by 'too small', and 'a good way to run'. If it works, then
- you are fine. If it doesn't work for you, then no, it isn't
- a good way to run...
-
- | 2. If I do get a scsi disk to work, can I remove the Interphase board ? I tried
- | that but the system refused to boot to the prom monitor. Must I somehow tell
- | the prom that there is no Interphase board in slot 3 ?
-
- You have to reset the bootfile and root NVRAM variables (most likely by
- setenv bootfile dksc(0,1,8)sash
- setenv root dks0d1s0
- at the PROM monitor. You may also have to reconfigure the
- OS by running /etc/autoconfig -fv, and then rebooting.
