  11. I am trying to switch to SMAIL here, and it works except for one
  12. problem:  it has trouble recognizing the local machine name.  i.e.
  13. if I am on "max.physics.sunysb.edu" (hostname returns "max") and
  14. send mail to "root" it delivers it via 'local'.  If I send to
  15. "root@max" it delivers via 'local'.  If I send to
  16. "root@max.physics.sunysb.edu" it doesn't realize that this is the
  17. local machine, and SMTP connects to itself and sends the message.
  18. The receiving smail then does the same thing.  It enters a loop,
  19. which eventually aborts and returns the mail.

  21. Any idea what is causing this?
