- I guess you lucked out with the polarity, as well as the connector.

- If it works, Great.
-
- As I mentioned in a previous post though, you might _think_ you are
- running on external power, but aren't. The way to see if your AC
- adapter is supplying sufficient current is to run your machine in low
- power mode, but at high speed. When you hit a key, the processor will
- restart and draw 5x the current. If the screen blinks, the AC adapter
- just pooped out and couldn't supply the current, so the batteries took
- up the slack. The switchover seems to cause the LCD to blink.
-
- You'll also see the effect if you are running the desk clock on low-power
- mode, since it does a high-power CPU burst to update the clock display
- once per second, and will blink the whole display once per second.
-
- Anyway, since you've done it already, can you measure the open-circuit
- voltage of your adapter? I have no idea how much the PC-3100 can take,
- and am a bit reluctant to destructively test mine... :-) I am building
- a rechargable pack for it and wonder if I need to go through the
- trouble of including a regulator or DC-DC convertor...
-
- Thanks,
