- Key: Powersupply for the HP-95LX
- Revision: 1.0

- Hi Folks,
-
- I 've tracked the discussuion about the internal and external power supply
- for the HP-95LX the last few weeks, and made a summary of it. Some of the
- information is from me, some is copied from articles of other autors.
- I also use this information by myself and tried some different external
- power supplies.
- Currently I am using a 9V DC 350 mA supply with + on the middle stick
- and - on the outside. It works well.
-
- If you have any suggestions or adds to this file please mail it to the
- above E-Mail address. I'll use it in the next revision of this info. Thanks.
-
- BUT IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGE.
-
- Here we go:
-
- The infos about the power can be found in the
- HP-95LX User's Guide, 4th Edition between pages 31-24 and A-1
- Minimum: 7.8 volts
- Nominal: 9 volts
- Maximum: 12 volts, 350mA AC, 175mA DC
-
- The original HP Power supply for the HP-95LX has 10V AC (open circuit)
-
- It is NOT important where the + and - of your power supply is on your connector
- because the HP-95LX can handle AC and so it doesn't matter.
- You can trust this information, I tried it by myself.
-
- One of the adapters you can use:
- The Radio Shack (Archer) 273-1651B adapter is recommended in
- Palmtop Papers (9V DC, 500mA)
-
- If somebody uses an 12V AC adapter the HP95LX will heat up in some cases,
- because normaly the adapter has a higher output voltage.
- You should NOT use this adapters.
-
- Somebody has measured the Power consumption of the HP-95LX
- with an external Power 9V AC, 800mA (open circuit 10.2V AC)
- Power on, displaying TOPCARD: 20mA
- Power off: 6.2mA
- Running IR95 (EXM): 26mA
- Running IR95 (EXE): 24mA
- Transmitting a code with IR95: 80mA
- Sitting at a DOS prompt: 76mA
- (serctl /o doesn't decrease power consumption in dos mode)
-
- Some useful Software:
- =====================
-
- power95.arc power on time control programm
- temporary avail. at csd4.csd.uwm.edu:/pub/Palmtop/hp95lx
-
- batt.zip displays the battery voltage of the int. batteries and ramcard
- battck.zip modification of batt
- avail. on CompuServe Forum HPHAND Lib. 7
-
-
- Hope it's useful
