  32. I 've tracked the discussuion about the internal and external power supply
  33. for the HP-95LX the last few weeks, and made a summary of it. Some of the
  34. information is from me, some is copied from articles of other autors.
  35. I also use this information by myself and tried some different external
  36. power supplies.
  37. Currently I am using a 9V DC 350 mA supply with + on the middle stick
  38. and - on the outside. It works well.

  47. The infos about the power can be found in the
  48. HP-95LX User's Guide, 4th Edition between pages 31-24 and A-1
  49. Minimum: 7.8 volts
  50. Nominal: 9 volts
  51. Maximum: 12 volts, 350mA AC, 175mA DC
  52.  
  53. The original HP Power supply for the HP-95LX has 10V AC (open circuit)
  54.  
  55. It is NOT important where the + and - of your power supply is on your connector
  56. because the HP-95LX can handle AC and so it doesn't matter.
  57. You can trust this information, I tried it by myself.

  59. One of the adapters you can use:
  60. The Radio Shack (Archer) 273-1651B adapter is recommended in
  61. Palmtop Papers (9V DC, 500mA)
  62.  
  63. If somebody uses an 12V AC adapter the HP95LX will heat up in some cases,
  64. because normaly the adapter has a higher output voltage.
  65. You should NOT use this adapters.

  67. Somebody has measured the Power consumption of the HP-95LX 
  68. with an external Power 9V AC, 800mA (open circuit 10.2V AC)
  69. Power on, displaying TOPCARD:       20mA
  70. Power off:                           6.2mA
  71. Running IR95 (EXM):                 26mA
  72. Running IR95 (EXE):                 24mA
  73. Transmitting a code with IR95:      80mA
  74. Sitting at a DOS prompt:            76mA
  75. (serctl /o doesn't decrease power consumption in dos mode)
