  16. I am having some difficulties with one of my user setups.  The
  17. workstation is a Toshiba T2200SX laptop computer with 6 mb of RAM
  18. running Toshiba DOS v5.00 and connecting to a 386 v3.11 file server
  19. via an external Xircom parallel port 10-Base-T Ethernet adapter.  They
  20. are running Microsoft Windows 3.1 with SaberMenus 2.0 for Windows as
  21. the shell.  The problems are that this setup is not stable:  DOS
  22. applications (mostly WordPerfect) crash with General Protection Fault
  23. messages, while Windows-based applications (mostly cc:Mail for Windows
  24. 1.11) crash with Application Errors.  On occasion, the shell (SMENU)
  25. fails with an Application Error as well.  This machine is running ODI
  26. Workstation shells, and the mouse is connected to the DB-9 serial port
  27. since the mouse port is dead.

  29. Here's what has been already tried:
  30.     * dealing with MS tech support --> they said to call Toshiba.
  31.     * dealing with Toshiba tech support.
  32.         *  replaced EMM386.EXE and HIMEM.SYS with newer
  33.            ones from Toshiba: still crashes.
  34.     * dealing with Xircom tech support
  35.         *  replaced ODI drivers with updated ones: still crashes.
  36.     * tried running Xircom adapter off a desktop model: no problem. 
  37.     * tried running in standard mode: still crashes.
  38.     * tried running with Program Manager as shell: still crashes.
  39.     * tried running with permanent swapfile on local C: disk: ditto.
  40.     * tried running with temporary swapfile on LAN drive: ditto.
  41.     * tried running Toshiba without external monitor: ditto.
  42.  
  43. Anyway, I'm at wits' end.  Has anyone out there successfully gotten
  44. the above to work?  Or something similar to it?   Please respond by
  45. e-mail or posting.  Thank you.
