  24. I am sorry, but I failed to mention the content of this elaborate story.  The
  25. following is just a jist of what I understand the article is talking about:

  27. Way way back before Novell got started there were four students and a
  28. professor.  Supposedly this is when the idea of the protocols and definition of
  29. routines was discussed in an University openly.  Supposedly three students went
  30. off and worked on the company to develop what is now NOVELL, and Roger Billings
  31. another student supposedly went off and did his little thing.  He managed to
  32. apply for patents and was refused because ??? - and at the same time the three
  33. students that are now at NOVELL working were working on supposedly the same
  34. information.  Well as it sounds, it appeared that Roger Billings got a patent
  35. on the same stuff Novell was working on and then Novell got a patent supposedly
  36. or something.  Now, Roger is suing Novell for the infringement, etc.  For a
  37. complete story of this please read the article, much more clear.  The lawyers
  38. do say that Roger has a good case and might win, but the outcome - corporate
  39. shutdown, buyout, ???
