  23. since I have the new NextStep3.0, over all it's very good, I can't do
  24. some things I did bevore.
  25.  
  26. Especially things I want to do at boot-up time.

  28. In NS2.1 I had entries in the rc.local to play a sound and to power the
  29. printer off. The entries looked something like this:

  31. sndplay /LocalLibrary/Sounds/mysound.snd &
  32.  
  33. ...

  35. nppower off
  36.  
  37. ...
  38.  
  39.  
  40. The sound was played during boot process until the loginwindow was
  41. displayed (then interrupted, never mind ...).
  42.  
  43. The printer was turned off bevor displaying the loginwindow.
  44.  
  45. In NS3.0 now the sound does not play anymore.
  46. (the path is right, sndplay still exists)

  48. In some cases I was able to turn the printer off, but then after loging
  49. in, the printer did'n turn on when selecting "Print", because it's
  50. status was "unavailable". I had to switch it to private or public
  51. using the PrinterManager.

  54. The sound "mysound" is on a second, extern harddisk.

  58. Can anybody tell me, what changed in the behaviour of the rc.local script
  59. or how can I achieve these things (esp. printer off) in another way.
