- I recently had the exact same symptoms on my external 1 GB fujitsu. They
- messages became more frequent as death neared, SO...
- .. I ordered a backup disk
- .. I backed up the disk to tape on a daily basis
- .. and when the other disk arrived...
- CLICK CLICK....DEAD
-
- I took off the external case and gave the disk power and figured out that
- the click click sound is the disk shutting itself off. Probably some self
- protection thing, either too hot or just kerbunkled. I did check the
- power supply and things looked normal.
-
- I plan on putting the 5 year warranty to the test after 9 months of use.
- For the record though I have 4 others in the lab that are working fine
- (for now).
-
- So, back it up, and plan on having the disk die soon.
