  41. I recently had the exact same symptoms on my external 1 GB fujitsu.  They  
  42. messages became more frequent as death neared, SO...
  43. .. I ordered a backup disk
  44. .. I backed up the disk to tape on a daily basis
  45. .. and when the other disk arrived...
  46. CLICK CLICK....DEAD
  47.  
  48. I took off the external case and gave the disk power and figured out that  
  49. the click click sound is the disk shutting itself off. Probably some self  
  50. protection thing, either too hot or just kerbunkled.  I did check the  
  51. power supply and things looked normal.
  52.  
  53. I plan on putting the 5 year warranty to the test after 9 months of use.
  54. For the record though I have 4 others in the lab that are working fine  
  55. (for now).

  57. So, back it up, and plan on having the disk die soon.
