Here are a few things I noticed that are incorrect about this issue of
NeXTWORLD:
1) It seems that the Ten Most Wanted list people should collaborate with the rest of the magazine's people. The number one entry says that there is "still no word" on NeXTWORLD Expo '93, yet both the cover and a small ad later on in the magazine say when and where the Expo is. Not a big deal, but since that entry has been cleared up, it makes me wonder what the new item in the
list would be.
2) Still in the Ten Most Wanted list, it says that the current version of NeXTSTEP is 2.9. On all the documentation and versions I've seen, my OS says that it is version 3.0. I don't even think there was a 2.9. A little proofreading could have cleared this one up in a jiffy.
3) On page 28, the 3.0 helpful hints article, in the first paragraph of the second column, it says, "Inspector panels can now play sounds...". This has been true since at least 2.1. In fact, since at least 2.1, if you want the soundfiles to be played by the File Viewer inspector by default, select the Tools inspector and choose the NeXT logo icon.
Something that bugs me about this issue is the cover. With all the new graphic power of NeXTSTEP 3.0 and Stone Design's excellent rendering application 3D Reality, why is the cover something so unprofessional looking as some horses photo with a really cheesy-looking "Product Stampede" on the cover? I think the cover of NeXTSTEP-oriented magazines are one of the best places to get the word out that NeXTSTEP has wonderful potential in the area of graphics.
