- We purchased Adobe Type-1 PostScript fonts to use with our NeXT machines.
- We're now wondering if these fonts can easily be ported to our Sun and HP
- workstations. (We assume this is legal, since they all print to the same
- printer -- feel free to inform us otherwise if you think we're wrong.)
-
- The NeXT version of the fonts came with, or generated, these sorts of files
- (e.g., for the GaramondThree font):
-
- GaramondThree GaramondThree-Bold
- GaramondThree.afm GaramondThree-Bold.afm
- GaramondThree.bepf GaramondThree-Bold.bepf
- Screen-GaramondThree.10.afm Screen-GaramondThree-Bold.10.afm
- Screen-GaramondThree.12.afm Screen-GaramondThree-Bold.12.afm
- Screen-GaramondThree.14.afm Screen-GaramondThree-Bold.14.afm
- Screen-GaramondThree.18.afm Screen-GaramondThree-Bold.18.afm
- Screen-GaramondThree.24.afm Screen-GaramondThree-Bold.24.afm
-
- and so on. For the Sun & HP installations, it seems we need files of these
- sorts (e.g., for Times-Roman):
-
- Times-Roman.f3b Times-Bold.f3b
- Times-Roman.afm Times-Bold.afm
- Times-Roman7.bfont
- Times-Roman9.bfont
- Times-Roman10.bfont Times-Bold10.bfont
- Times-Roman12.bfont Times-Bold12.bfont
- Times-Roman14.bfont Times-Bold14.bfont
- Times-Roman18.bfont Times-Bold18.bfont
- Times-Roman24.bfont Times-Bold24.bfont
-
-
- Anyone have any suggestions as to what needs to be translated into what?
- I would guess the .afm files pass straight through, but I wonder how to
- get the .f3b and .bfont files, and what to get them from.
-
- Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
