  23. The outputs from the NeXT CDROM player (the RCA phono jacks) are LINE OUTs.
  24. They are NOT microphone outputs, and as such, feeding them into your mic jacks
  25. of either your sound box or your monitor runs the risk of damaging it.  Mic
  26. jacks have virtually no voltage to them -- Line outs have in the neighborhood
  27. of 1.5V peak-to-peak which, at the very least, makes for lousy "buzzy"
  28. recordings, which isn't what Manuel wanted to do in the first place.

  30. Your best bet is to take the CDROM's line outs and feed them into your stereo's
  31. line in jacks to listen to discs.. (and no, not the PHONO jacks either, because
  32. 'real' phono jacks are a different breed again).
