- Thanks to Spencer Thomas for setting me on the right track. There's a
- control panel item called "Launcher" in Sys 7.1P; it provides sort of an
- application icon dock. I thought I had disabled Launcher (by killing the
- alias for it in Startup Items) but it turns out that it loads an INIT
- anyway, and this INIT re-creates the dreaded Documents folder at startup.
- If you take Launcher out of the System folder entirely, then you can trash
- the Documents folder and it will stay dead. Everything seems to work as in
- regular Sys 7.1 now.
-
- Launcher could actually be a useful thing, although it doesn't seem to do
- anything you can't do with the Apple menu. But this misfeature is enough
- to send it to the trash in my book.
