- A bit paranoid are we? Let's assume for a moment that the author of the
- program did want to scan your hard disk for something. Suppose it found it.
- What now? Do you notice the program dialing out via your modem to report to
- Andrew that you had such and such a file? Are you going to send the program
- back to him so that it can report? I don't think so.

- I haven't poked into the program, but I would assume that it is busily
- loading all of the resources (sprites, sounds, etc) that the program needs
- to have available *quickly* while the game is being played. If you watch
- while you are playing, the program doesn't appear to do any disk accesses
- at all (except when you change your control setup) which would be
- compatible with the idea that all resources are loaded at startup.

- Why don't you try running Maelstrom in its own partition if you are
- worried. As far as the "searching", have you thought that your hard drive
- may be fragmented and Maelstrom is having to look all over the place for
- its pieces. Perhaps try a defrag.
