- I am having a problem with Finder aliases on a remote volume accessed by
- AppleTalk Remote Access. I want to install a new program on the remote
- volume and then put an alias to the program in the Startup Items folder,
- so that the program will run the next time the remote machine is
- restarted.
-
- I copied the program out there, then had the Finder make an alias by
- selecting the icon on the remote disk and saying Make Alias.
- Unfortunately, the remote machine could not handle this alias correctly
- when rebooting. The alert message below appeared:
-
- The alias "CSRavn" could not be opened because the shared disk "Codar
- Data" which contains the original item could not be found on the network.
-
- I don't want it to look on the network -- Codar Data is its own hard disk!
- How can I create an alias remotely that will be valid for the remote
- machine?
