- There are several systems that will run fine on this Mac. However, you should
- know that most of today's programs (and that means almost ALL) do not run on
- this machine. I also have an old 512K Mac that I do not use anymore for this
- reason, although I do have the system files that will work.

- Yes it is. As has been mentioned, you can either use 800K MFS disks, or
- alternatively, you can add the "Hard Disk 20" file to your system folder.
- This will allow an external 800K drive to use HFS disks, but you will still
- have to boot from the 400K floppy (internal drive) first.

- If he can upgrade the machine to a Plus for $150, that would definitely be
- the way to go. He would then be able to run System 6/7 and use the newest
- software. However, you would also need an internal (maybe external would
- also work) 800K drive.
