  25. There are several systems that will run fine on this Mac.  However, you should
  26. know that most of today's programs (and that means almost ALL) do not run on
  27. this machine.  I also have an old 512K Mac that I do not use anymore for this
  28. reason, although I do have the system files that will work.

  32. Yes it is.  As has been mentioned, you can either use 800K MFS disks, or
  33. alternatively, you can add the "Hard Disk 20" file to your system folder.
  34. This will allow an external 800K drive to use HFS disks, but you will still
  35. have to boot from the 400K floppy (internal drive) first.

  42. If he can upgrade the machine to a Plus for $150, that would definitely be
  43. the way to go.  He would then be able to run System 6/7 and use the newest
  44. software.  However, you would also need an internal (maybe external would
  45. also work) 800K drive.
