  14. Several of the Macs at the place I used to work at will not allow
  15. rebuilding of the desktop.  When you hold down the key combination,
  16. you get the dialog asking if you want the desktop rebuilt.  If you
  17. answer OK, it starts to do so, then stops with the above error, and
  18. restarts the system.
  19. I have been letting this problem go, as all of the machines have been
  20. working OK (i.e., If it ain't broke, don't fix it).  However, after
  21. optimizing one hard drive, several of the programs don't work, as they
  22. can not find files they need in the desktop that the optimizer couldn't
  23. rebuild.
  24. All machines are running System 6.0.x, where 5<= x <= 7.  Most are
  25. Mac IIcx or si models, with a couple of SE/HD's and one II.  Any
  26. explanation/trial solutions most appreciated.  Any sourcebooks that can
  27. aid a technoflunkie on this type of administration work that can be
  28. recomended also appreciated.
