  34. This kind of tax has been around for a while now - blank musicassette
  35. tapes carry a tax on the assumption that a certain proportion of them
  36. will be used to to make copies of recorded material which contravene
  37. the copyright laws (i.e. not solely for the enjoyment of the original
  38. purchaser of the recorded works).

  40. Well, of course we can sympathise with the artist/author, who _knows_
  41. that his income is quite seriously diminished by piracy, but hey, we've
  42. been found guilty without a trial, and are being made to pay for it
  43. without leave to appeal, so how do you feel about that? Does it
  44. discourage piracy? Quite the reverse, I suspect! Unfortunately, I
  45. don't have a better idea. (A _dongle_ for every CD? No way Hose!)
