- This kind of tax has been around for a while now - blank musicassette
- tapes carry a tax on the assumption that a certain proportion of them
- will be used to to make copies of recorded material which contravene
- the copyright laws (i.e. not solely for the enjoyment of the original
- purchaser of the recorded works).

- Well, of course we can sympathise with the artist/author, who _knows_
- that his income is quite seriously diminished by piracy, but hey, we've
- been found guilty without a trial, and are being made to pay for it
- without leave to appeal, so how do you feel about that? Does it
- discourage piracy? Quite the reverse, I suspect! Unfortunately, I
- don't have a better idea. (A _dongle_ for every CD? No way Hose!)
