  12. Hello everyone,

  14. Could someone please tell me exactly what an fRefNum is and how one
  15. obtains this mysterious number? I am looking at Inside Mac VI page 22-100
  16. at the SetupAIFFHeader call whose first argument is an fRefNum.  I have 
  17. looked through all the Inside Macs I can get my hands on and can't find
  18. any useful piece of information.  I've also looked at THINK Reference an
  19. a few other places to no avail.

  21. According to the description at the bottom of the page, "The fRefNum 
  22. parameter contains a file reference number for a file that is open for
  23. writing." But I can't find anywhere that says how you know what the file
  24. reference number is.  Please forgive me if this is blazingly obvious.
