- I just picked up an HP DeskWriter for my Macintosh today... I'm
- really happy to have replace my ImageWriter I with a really
- nice home printer, but I have a small hacker kind of question that
- I was hoping somebody out there could answer.
-
- If the printer doesn't have the font installed, it likes to generate a
- screen bit map. Generally this doesn't bother me, as I only use Times
- and Symbol in real documents, but when working on source code and raw
- LaTeX, I use the editor Alpha and a font called "VT Alt Plain" which
- is from the VersaTerm distribution. It's a really nice,
- non-proportional font for editing. Easy to read and 0s and Os as well
- as 1s and ls are different, but it looks lousy when bit mapped to the
- printer. Is there a way to tell the printer driver (say with a ResEdit
- hack) that when "VT Alt Plain" is called for, "Courier" should be
- substituted?
-
- Thanks,
