  13. I purchased an external 2400 baud send/receive modem.  I didn't bother
  14. spending the extral money for a 'Fax' modem.

  16. Now, fax modems go at 9600!  (while in "normal" model they still go at
  17. 2400)  I was under the impression that the 9600 rate could ONLY be
  18. used in FAX mode.

  20. A few days ago, a friend of mind (has an IBM compat. not a Mac) said
  21. that he was going to buy a modem and that he was going to make sure
  22. that it was 2400 send and 9600 receive.  I was under the impression
  23. that he ment a FAX modem and told him that you can't buy a modem that
  24. receives at 9600 (unless you're willing to fork out the cash for it).

  26. Was/am I wrong?  Can you buy modems that will receive at the amazing
  27. rate of 9600 baud and send at 2400?
