- Hi foks,
-
- I have a Mac SE which on powerup gives the following Sad Mac error
- codes:
-
- 00000001
- 0000FFFF
-
- I've been under the hood and I disconnected the SCSI disk and the
- Floppy drive to try to isolate things. I then swapped the RAM SIMMs
- with fresh ones. I then removed the ROM chips from their sockets and
- reseated them. It consistently gives the same error code on powerup.
-
- My understanding is that this indicates that the Mac failed the "ROM
- Checksum" test. I'm wondering:
-
- 1) How likely is it that this indicates a bad ROM chip?
-
- 2) Any recommendations on where I might get the parts to fix this
- problem?
-
- 3) Failing that any recommendations on where I might get someone else
- to fix this for me?
-
- I've seen some ROMs for some mac's available through mail order.
- Anybody have any experience with this?
-
- Thanks,
-
