  12. In our lab we have a Quadra 900 which selectively crashes by ignoring
  13. mouse movements. This is a repeatable occurance.

  15. Hardware: Q900 with 12M RAM. Internal hard drive, freshly formatted.
  16. System 7.0.1 & TuneUp 1.1.1, freshly installed.

  18. Crashes with Apple extensions only enabled. One way to make it crash:
  19. Open the alarm clock DA, turn on balloon help, mouse over to alarm clock,
  20. instant mouse freeze up(cursor position freeze actually, the mouse clicks
  21. still get through). Also crashes by  opening(and closing) windows in the finder
  22. for a sufficiently long time(running NO applications!).For clarity:
  23. the crash can occur after having rebooted and having run no application.
  24. Finder operations are sufficient to cause crashes. Only the standard
  25. system extensions are installed. No VM.

  27. The peculiarity: ONLY occurs when the cache is ON(set by Cash Switch DA).
  28. No difference is seen in 24 or 32 bit addressing modes.

  30. Any suggestions for remedies before I truck it over to my trusty repair
  31. center? I.E., can this be a hardware problem?
